K.K Leisure Boys Trip 17 April to 19 April 2009

A short leisure trip to KK.
To celebrate Daniel's bachelor as well as Hao's advanced birthday.

    Highlights

    • Le Meridien. Nice breakfast and located in middle of everything. Walking distance to centrepoint, warisan square and most importantly the waterfront.
    • Shamrock drinking whilst watching sunset

    • Shamrock again for its guiness. Can't beat it. The lady owner recognise us from last year was kind enough to give us beer souvenirs again. Hehe, must be attracted to Abby leng chai, or the amount of money see hong spent there.

    • Shopping alone at centrepoint. Somehow i like it more than Warisan. I guessed its just a feeling. Managed to get myself a FREE ADIDAS foot test. Another story for another blog.
    • Clubbing and massage.

    Lowlights

    • Didn't manage to go One Borneo. I heard they got a class club there.
    • Delays in taking off. The plane was grounded for like 30 minutes. Mood killer after the initial excitement.
    • Little Italy again? Didn't get their famous Lemonade this time round.
    • I want more seafood!
    • What's good to eat at KK anyway? I need a local tour guide.
Overall, a satisfying and relaxing trip.

    April 23

Ulu Ulu Temburong 14 April 2009

One year later, I am back.
Again with Mark Weng and his assistant Ally.
Back to the Ulu Ulu National Resort for a day trip, to challenge my fear of height.
This time, i said to myself, at least stop in the middle of the track and enjoy the view a bit.

    Like last year,
    • Pickup from hotel
    • Reach Bandar jetty
    • Take boat to Bangar for around 45min
    • Another Van ride of 30min to Long boat jetty
    • Long boat ride of 20min to Ulu Ulu Resort

Ulu ulu resort is currently under construction. Upon arrival, whatever nature one might enjoy is being replaced by ugly sights of crane and piling sounds. Don't matter, objective is not to stay overnight at the resort anyway.

After some beverages and registering in, we are all set to go. Unlike last year, which we hike all the way from the resort, through the suspension bridge to the canopy walk, there is a detour ala shortcut this time round. I heard from our longboat driver that the suspension bridge is currently being "serviced?" and that's the reason we were being transported via short cut much closer to the canopy walk.

Short walk of maybe 10min and there we are.
We were there first, before the rest of the tour group. I was still collecting my breath and my pschy for the task but Mark was eager to up the canopy already.
Damn, okay Mark went first, followed by Ally with me at the tail end.
After around 2 flights of stairs, Ally decided to pull out. Great, heaping more pressures. My legs are crumbling below me and now i have to match the speed of Mark.

Why does the whole structure have to be like moving side to side, can't they just be still!
Nevertheless, long story short, I climbed up, walk across and came down the canopy, wihtout really breaking strides.
I FAILED yet again. This is the consolation pic i took with a teenage girl in front of me, who managed to catch up with me. I guess i was that slow and careful.
As evident from the photo, i wasn't really paying attention to anything else but to get down to GROUND LEVEL. I reckon i wasn't so bad, there were a couple of macho guy who didn't do the climb.

Had our lunch then. I recall having the same dishes last year. Hmmm....my legs are still "lembut".
This year something different did occur tho, the guide brought us to a small waterfall for a swim.
It is located along the river and have to walk into the forest to find it.
Its like a hidden treasure thingy. Shoes are now wet but clean from mud.

Can't wait to go home. Maybe same time next year, i shall learn to stop and admire treetops and forest.

    I am NIL

Its been a month since i touched down in Brunei
I will try to update this blog as frequently as possible and so my oversea friends will know what the heck is going on here in Brunei and with my life.
Anyway, i will share an incidence during my birthday dinner which is truly horribly comical. I am not even sure if this will happen anywhere else.

30th, after a hard day work at our company warehouse clearance sale, my family organised a birthday dinner for me at I-lotus.
The food was good and suprisingly my dear mum even got me a birthday cake.
However, more SHOCKINGly, the cake was addressed to "NIL". Well, wouldn't you think i will know if my name is Nil?
Who the heck is Nil? Don't believe me, look at pic below.

Well, the funny story is this.
When my mum ordered the cake, she did not want to put down any messages.
So, the kind lady at the cake shop put down NIL to messages to be included in the cake.
Suprise, suprise, must be some sort mega miscomm, the chef put the NIL in the cake anyway.
Come on, logically who is called NIL? wouldn't you at least verified?
I don't know whether this kind of comical mishaps only happen here.
Looking at it positively, i will remember this birthday for a while and the cake was super.

p.s. Nil, is god trying send me a message? How how ironic. What are you trying to tell me? I am Nil?

    Singapore Dec 07

A summary of my most recent trip to Singapore.
I have visited Singapore lots of time but usually it's only for transit purposes with maximum stay of maybe 2 nights.
This was the first time i felt like a tourist with friends and my sister showing me around.

    Monday 10th Dec

    • Hang around with sis for the whole day doing groceries shoppings around clementi.
    • Sis was nice to cook dinner and Michael actually made his specialty blended papaya milk with some other fruits
    • Met up with Thomas and Eugene at Clarke Quay.
    • Had a few beer at a pub before deciding to get into the Lunar Asian fusion. It has a live chinese band playing which is pretty impressive. We wanted to sit in front of the stage but all booked out. Wow.

    Tuesday 11th Dec

    • Went to Bugis with sis. Hang around and doing some shoppings. Bugis junction is cool place for me as it sells unique and weird things instead of your normal branded stuff. Nearby also has a  marketplace which really kick ass, my kind of place.
    • Met up with Roy my ex-boss for dinner and drink. He brought me to a really cool hangouts at Dempsey Hills. Apparently Dempsey was formerly all army camp and offices which they have now converted into a very happening place.
    • Had a wine before heading to dinner at Dempsey Huts. The pasta was fabulous, better than what i had in Melbourne that 's for sure.
    • I will go again next time to this place

    Wednesday 12th Dec

    • Vivo shopping centre at Harbour Front. Again more shopping. A new shopping centre.
    • Met up with Jo and husband for dinner at City Hall. Made last minute mind to go Geyland eat seafood and chili crab.
    • Eric joined us later. Nice to see everyone doing so well.

    Thursday 13th Dec

    • Shopping at Orchard road.
    • Dinner with Michael and Sis at Tony Ramos at Orchard Hotel.
    • Michael took me to a quick tour of Orchard tower. Hmm... lots of things
    • Brief walk around orchard raod and their christmas light decor

    Friday 14th Dec

    • Off to Brunei
Overall, a good few days with little rest, good food, good alcohol and most of all good companies.
As for the shoppings, I actually didn't buy anything except for some CDs. Interesting.
Maybe, it wasn't that time of the year for me to shop.
